Guest Lecture on Equity as an Investment Opportunity

MBA FM organized a Guest Lecture on ‘Equity as an Investment Opportunity’ for the students of MBA I and II Year in Block II, Seminar Hall, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) on June 12, 2018. The Speakers for the lecture were Mr. Ashwin Kumar and Mr. Lakshminarayanan, who are the co-founders of Fourth Dimensions Wealth Management Pvt Ltd.

In the lecture, the speakers started the discussion with Dynamic equity assets, they gave introduction to technical analysis. They told us how technical analysis helps in understanding the market as a whole. They showed the historic price movement of stock to predict future movement of a stock/index/commodity. Mr. Lakshminarayanan shared the positives of share market, in which he said the share market is the best market to earn profits. The speakers explained about the importance of investing in stock market. They gave briefing on how software can be used to understand when to trade and when not to.

The speaker Mr. Ashwin explained about the technical aspects of investing and how charts are useful to predict the behavior of stocks. He also explained about the candles present in the chart, Blue as Bullish, Black as Stag and red as Bearish.

The speaker briefed about how to select a stock to invest in, from a collection of stocks. The speakers explained about the importance of XIRR and its calculation in excel. XIRR explains about how much is the compounded return and to get the percentage of return on investment. It includes time value of money, return on investment (SIP).

The speaker explained about compounding and how to calculate the monthly money to be invested to reach a goal lump sum. The speakers concluded it by explaining about the importance of investing early in the equity markets. The event ended with a vote of thanks and presenting mementos to the guests.
